Horrific? They are playing many of the tunes from the 1st Electric Band cd, if anythng they rush like mad on Rumble but horrific? Are you high? [img]eek.gif[/img] Not to be rude.....but I mean, if you don't like the 1st EB cd then I guess it's how you explain it but man when that disc came out it had many of us at the time going.............sh**

I have this on VHS. It's a very young John P & Dave W w/Chick. The music is horrific IMO (welcome to the world of synthesizers--Chick goes nuts), but it's classic young Dave. I was in college around this time and remember this set well. Someone in HOD gave this to me off BET along with a bunch of other hour long "in the studio with..." sessions.

I agree w RW...when i 1st heard Rumble, King Cockroach, Silver Temple, AWA Sidewalk, GOT A [FRIGGIN'] MATCH, heck, ALL of 'em...they blew me away...& all the heavy hitters in town were raving about it. [But i realize PP is not talking about the 1st album itself, but still... [img]wink.gif[/img] ]

After watching the reunion tour of the Electric Band DVD I can see how the band is more relaxed than watching the show on BET where they are really pushing the time. The new bass player Mike Pepe is good, he's not JP but holds his own.

I hear ya Pocket, m' man, about the newfangled sounds & all those synth 'bends' that CC was coming up with...it took me a little while to get used to that too...but you're right, the playing [img]eek.gif[/img] ...

Hey, what can I say...I thought the music sucked bigtime. Dave was cool, John was cool, Chick was cool...but Chick's obsession with his new toys did nothing for me...it was like a demo for a synth at NAMM...just wasn't into it.
When I saw Chick back in '86, it was good stuff. But the clip I have taped off BET Jazz did little for me...and let me add, IMO.

Possibly my most controversial post. Oh well. [img]eek.gif[/img]
